Description
Intrigued by the mystery of this new egg, Dee spends some 'quality time' with it.
That morning, she'd placed it on a soft pillow near the fireplace. Leaving only every now and then to eat, Dee spent the most of the new day guarding the odd little egg. She made sure the pillow was fluffed and not too close to the fire. She would turn the egg over occasionally so that each side was warmed. She even (a rare event indeed) gathered some small twigs from outside to keep the fire going.
And when she saw that nobody else was around, and she thought that no-one was looking, she laid on her belly next to the egg and pressed her cheek to the cool, hard surface. Her ears twitched, trying to hear something, anything coming from within. Once or twice she thought she heard movement, or a tiny squeak, but that could easily have been her overactive imagination...
